Also, Ashley is now one of our facets. :) As a host, they've been very accomodating, and now we get to show them our hospitality, too.

They're a few years older than us; gender varies a bit, but usually hovers around demigirl. In-headspace, they're an adventurer and treasure hunter, who returns home every so often to share stories of their travels.

(And maaaybe take us along on some. Shh.)

Welcome to our party, Ash!

We love heatwaves, but feel guilty about it now that the air's so bad.

Trying to visualize Amra in our bedroom tonight, she appeared as a realistic person sitting on the bed behind our chair. But when she talked or emoted for a little longer, her face went from 'live-action' to a more anime style. Well, she's a star-fallen scaly, so she's got to look a little unusual as a 3D person.

"What are you saying about me?"

...Um, anyway, that's a weird thing we've found!

(悪い日本語すみません ^^;)

Also, Ruby left that weeb place, because its feed was a firehose of liquid garbage.

We still haven't decided if we want more/other accounts or not; it's hard to find good instances that aren't already booked up. We'll keep looking, though.

By contrast, Nightbreed's monsters are true monsters, exceeding the limits set by nature. They can change their shape (morphological freedom) and "live without death", and human society persecutes them for these transgressions.

"When the possibility of transition became real and known, the tomb under Nature's shrine cracked, and new histories - bristling with futures - escaped the old order of sex" - The Xenofeminist Manifesto

This is talking about gender transition, but could easily apply to Midian. Nightbreed, as a challenge to the order of the given, is not only subversive of monster movies, but an inherently transhumanist and xenofeminist film.

TSOW is anti-patriarchy, with one of the best depictions we've seen of the psychic toll that sexual harassment takes. In addition, it takes an explicitly anti-racist, anti-homophobic, and anti-nationalist stance. But its critique of power stops there; while the human social order is unjust and should be challenged, the order of the natural world must not (and ultimately cannot) be defied.

In the classic monster movie, the monster is that which exceeds the natural. Typically, the balance of nature is restored when the monster is killed at the end. TSOW inverts this: its monster *is* nature, a primal force that humans disregard at their own peril.

"You really are a God"

We relate to Nightbreed more than The Shape Of Water. Both films have a lot to admire in them, but TSOW is an inversion of the monster movie, while Nightbreed is a true subversion of it.
