ArenaNet: Today, April 1st 2011, we are introducing a new profession to our upcoming sequel to Guild Wars, the Commando.
The Public: This is ridiculous. ArenaNet would never add a combat class that could use flamethrowers, grenades, bombs, pistols, rifles, automated turrets, and orbital command strikes to this fantasy game!
[six and a half years later]
ArenaNet: With the upcoming expansion to #GuildWars2, Path of Fire, we are adding the ability to use a lightsaber as an alternative to the current elite specialization which lets you use unmanned drones on the profession that can use flamethrowers, grenades, bombs, pistols, rifles, automated turrets, and orbital command strikes.
[a year later]
[ArenaNet adds the first Commando to Guild Wars 2]
hot take, unions
You know what I hate about unions?
You're not allowed to fire people even if they're directly refusing to do the work you hired them to do or sabotaging the work of your other employees.
And you can only hire new employees once every few years, and the union gets pretty much total control over the candidate pool.
And sometimes the employees just straight-up murder their employer and you can't do anything about it.
Oh, wait, not unions. The United States Government. I always get those confused.
people are complaining that #GuildWars2 is going through a content draught
I mean it's not like we've been through two months of weekly updates since the last living world episode and living world episodes come out every 3-5 months
it's not like they've announced and released several legendary items since that episode came out
it's not like they gave us a goddamn dragon to raise from an egg until it was big enough that we could ride it
it's not like we got an entire new yearly festival last month, as well as a complete rework of all the open world boss fights in the latest expansion
it's not like we got two entirely new skill types which would normally require an expansion
