Today is the Feast Day of James Baldwin (August 2, 1924 – December 1, 1987). He was a writer and civil rights activist who gained acclaim for his 1953 novel Go Tell It on the Mountain. The following year he published his second novel, Giovanni's Room, which broached the topic of homosexuality at a time when this was still considered to be taboo. He is considered one of the most respected writers of the 20th century.

Today is Gay Warlock's Day, AKA the Feast of Paul Lynde (June 13, 1926 – January 10, 1982).

He was an American actor probably best known for his recurring role of the warlock “Uncle Arthur” in the 1960s/70s sitcom Bewitched. He was much loved, and despite his being closeted (his gayness was an open secret in Hollywood), he provided our community with some clandestine visibility at a time when it was not ok to be openly homosexual. For these reasons, this fictional gay warlock has a place on the ancestors’ altar.

Today is the Feast of Alex Sanders (June 6, 1926 – April 30, 1988), founder of the Alexandrian tradition and self-proclaimed “King of the Witches.”

While he was married to his wife Maxine, he was widely known to have had affairs with men and famously created a magical spirit using same-sex intercourse in a magical working.

Today is the Feast of Victor Anderson (May 21, 1917 – September 20, 2001)

He was the founder of American Faery witchcraft (Feri). Though he was in a loving, monogamous marriage with his wife Cora until his death, this should not erase his bisexuality. He taught the longer one worked with Faery, the more bisexual one would likely become (an assertion that is less about one's sexual preference or behavior and more of an acknowledgment of the non-gendered nature of the soul).

A traditional offering would be hot buttered tea (literally just black Lipton tea with a pat of butter added) or even Taco Bell, especially bean burritos!

I was so happy to be invited to speak on the latest episode of the Queer Spirituality Podcast. My old friend @jcrossonhill and I chatted about what it means to practice queer spirituality as well as my latest book, The Satyr's Kiss. Check it out!

"The core of Witchcraft has always been carnal in nature. It is rooted in the wisdom of both the land and the body, recognizing the physical world as the holy temple through which we worship the omnipresent divine, the indwelling consciousness within all things and places. It is this consciousness which we often deify, calling it Goddess or God or some other equally nebulous title meant to inspire a sense of awe, reverence, and mystery."

Today is the Feast of Harry Hay (April 7, 1912 – October 24, 2002)

He was an early gay rights activist and founder of the Radical Faeries. He founded the Mattachine Society in 1950 when it was still illegal for homosexuals to gather in public.

The Wild Hunt just joined the fediverse, give them a follow! @TheWildHuntNews

"As a queer warlock, I proudly stand with my trans sisters, brothers, and sacred others, and I will contribute to the inclusion conversation any chance I get. Still, most importantly, I will do my best to lift trans and other minority voices in the Craft."

Perpetua and Felicity are considered to be patron saints of same-sex couples. These North African women were friends and were executed together on March 7, 203 for being Christian.

When I was young, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would be celebrating my 30th anniversary with my husband, let along have two other amazing partners in my life. I am truly blessed. Chas, it has been an amazing time. We have been through so much together and have come so far. I can't believe it's already been 30 years. It doesn't feel a day over 28. 😝

And Devin and Mat... thank you for joining us on this crazy ride. I love you both so much. ❤️❤️❤️

Here's to another 30+ years!

[1st picture is Chas and I just a couple years after we got together. We were just babies!]
