UC Berkeley holds more Native American ancestors than any institution in the nation, with over 9000 ancestors, as well as hundreds of thousands of cultural objects, many of them belonging to Ohlone peoples. Like many native Californian tribes, the Ohlone aren’t federally recognized and don’t have federal reservations, which complicates the process of repatriating ancestral remains.

Yet another police killing of a young black man has occurred, and the police are said to be releasing the video footage later today. First of all we encourage everyone NOT to share that video on social media as such things can be harmful to marginalized communities who suffer from such abuse on a daily basis. River Devora is a traditionally initiated Oloricha, a multi-traditional spirit worker, witch, teacher, healer, and polytheist clergyperson. River has been writing, leading classes and rituals, and providing individual and group support for the local and national pagan and polytheist communities since 1996. Zie has been a student of healing traditions, energy work, magic, religion and the occult since 1983. Zie began the Strong Roots and Wide Branches polytheist learning community as a place for polytheists to meet and learn together, and taught monthly classes and cohorts since its inception in March of 2014 (on extended hiatus since the Plague began).
